Silk painter Jane Harrison is holding her third solo exhibition next month.

Jane, a former newspaper journalist, from Rickmansworth, specialises in silk paintings. They are professionally stretched on frames, as well as on ties and scarves.

She explains: “The appeal of silk painting is its versatility and unpredictability. You can produce a very detailed piece or use the vibrant colours to achieve something bold and abstract."

Watford Observer:

Jane has sold her work at craft fairs, galleries and exhibitions and is a member of the Guild of Silk Painters and Watford Area Arts Forum (WAAF).

She has also exhibited her work at the Camden Arts Festival, Willesden Green Library Centre and Northwood Craft Market.

The most notable recipients of her ties have been Sir Richard Branson and the late Richard Whiteley of Countdown Fame.

Her exhibition and sale is at The Radlett Centre, Aldenham Avenue, Radlett, WD7 8HL, 7 to 28.

Other events at the centre include:

The Addams Family features an original story, and it’s every father’s nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family – a man her parents have never met. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s ‘normal’ boyfriend and his parents.

It is the authorised edition of the Broadway musical, presented by Brilliant Theatre Arts.

Swinging at The Cotton Club celebrates the music and dance of the Cotton Club – New York’s most celebrated nightclub of the 1920s and 30s. Performances by Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Cab Calloway, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Fats Waller would have had the club swinging - whilst dancers such as Bojangles Robinson and the Nicholas Brothers lit-up the stage with their breath-taking routines.

In this show, the exhilarating dance and music of the Cotton Club is recreated by the fabulous Lindy Hop Dance Company, alongside The Harry Strutters Hot Rhythm Orchestra, featuring American vocalist Marlene Hill and compere/vocalist Megs Etherington.
