A young swimmer managed to bag 15 medals at a competition.

Isabella Yeabsley, who goes to Aldenham Prep School in Elstree, is only 11 years old - but already a champion swimmer.

She picked up the medals at Herfordshire County's swimming competition held at The Venue in Borehamwood.

The competition is the first rung on the ladder to regionals, nationals, world championships and the Olympics.

She won medals in freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly races - three golds, three silvers and nine bronzes.

She was also awarded the converted Plate for her age group.

Mrs Gocher, head teacher at Aldenham Prep School, Elstree, said: “We are all very proud of Isabella; she is a credit to herself, family and school.

"She works very hard and her amazing achievements speak for themselves. We wish her every success in her sporting endeavours."

Isabella’s huge medal sweep is over three times the total amount of medals GB won at this year’s Winter Olympics in PyeongChang.

Her total is also more than double the number of swimming medals GB claimed at the Rio Olympics in 2016.

Isabella now plans to compete regionally, but for the future she is dreaming big: “The 2024 Olympics in Paris would be a dream come true. I will just keep trying my best.”
