Staff at a fire station will wash cars to help a three-year-old girl with a heart condition go on her dream holiday.

Olivia Scarman is the daughter of a close friend of a firefighter working at Garston Fire Station, in St Albans Road.

She was born with hypo-plastic left heart syndrome and given very little chance of living by doctors.

Olivia has reached the age of three and a half after receiving treatment by Great Ormond Street hospital however, no further procedures are available.

Peter Wilson, watch commander at the fire station, says her heart is in failure so there is limited time for her to visit relatives in Cornwall.

He said: “Olivia is receiving palliative care at home and so we are holding a car wash to raise money for her and also The Firefighters Charity.

“Unfortunately, no further procedures are possible for her and so we are hoping to raise some funds to be able to send her and her family on holiday to Cornwall.”

The car wash is being held at Garston Fire Station, near the Asda store in St Albans Road, Watford, on Monday April 2 from 10am to 3pm.

The event was originally due to take place on March 17 but was rescheduled following concerns about adverse weather conditions.
