A house has been closed down by the council after neighbours complained about domestic abuse and drug dealing.

Three Rivers District Council was granted a Closure Order at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on Thursday April 5 2018.

No-one is allowed to enter a property in Ballater Close, South Oxhey, for three months otherwise they will face arrest.

The council, Hertfordshire Police and Thrive Homes had received a number of calls from members of the public reporting arguments, noisy visitors, domestic abuse, suspected drug use and drug dealing at the address.

The court was satisfied that a person had engaged, or was likely to engage, in disorderly, offensive or criminal behaviour on the premises and the use of the premises had resulted in serious nuisance to the public.

Steven Halls, chief executive at Three Rivers said: “We very much value our close working relationship with the police and Thrive Homes.

“By taking this action to close the address, we hope to and improve the quality of life for our local communities and provide some respite from the behaviour that causes such misery for neighbours.”

The council is urging residents to report their concerns on the non-emergency number 101.

If people see a crime or anti-social behaviour in progress, they should call 999.
