I was very interested to read last week’s front page story regarding Watford Football Club trying to increase their ground capacity to compete with other medium sized Premier League clubs. This might lead to a very interesting development if keeping Watford FC in their current location, so the club can increase the Vicarage Road ground capacity, is more desirable to Watford politicians and residents than the redevelopment of Watford General Hospital.
A new West Herts A&E Hospital in a more central and accessible location, near or in Watford, would surely allow Watford FC to increase the capacity and facilities of Vicarage Road rather than relocating outside Watford.
To me everyone wins and West Herts residents and hospital staff won’t have to put up with major redevelopment work going on all around whilst an ageing hospital is demolished and rebuilt over more than a decade!
