I feel I have to write in response to the CVs published (and those that were not) in last week’s paper along with each candidate’s manifesto.

While they make interesting reading, there is in my opinion a lot not being said and promises that cannot be kept.

I think it’s time for the Watford public to seek true, honest and reliable manifestos that are supported with a fully costed business case to ensure what is being stated can be delivered and we the voters know what we are voting for.

We’ve seen in recent times that promises are made, people are elected and within a few weeks we are told they can’t be achieved. Time to stop telling untruths, time to be realistic, time to be held accountable.

To me, these manifestos do not address the real issues we face today. Yes, they talk about housing, but what we really need are communities to be built, not dormitories, we want school places to be guaranteed, we want to know we can see the doctor or the dentist without waiting weeks, We want to feel safe in our homes, in our neighbourhood and our town. These are the real issues.

So, I ask the candidates, can you be clear on what you are going to do, how you are going to do it, when it will be done and most importantly how are you going to pay for it? And will you be held accountable?
