A television star will help launch a week-long festival this summer.

Chris Packham, known for his work on Springwatch, will launch the Bushey Festival at the end of June.

After a year's break, the festival is back with a programme celebrating art, music, and entertainment within the community.

The event will kick off on June 30 where Mr Packham will speak at the Bushey Academy.

Chairman of the Bushey Festival, Steve Frances, said: "We're delighted Chris has agreed to come to Bushey. His passion for wildlife and envi- ronmental protection appeals to people of all ages and he complements the aims of the festival really well. It's clear from our survey that we all want to live in a safe, happy and healthy community and that it's something that begins in our own homes, neighbour- hood and green spaces."

The week will be rounded off with the Festival in the Park, in King George recreation ground.

Tickets go on sale on May 11 at www.busheyfestival.org
