A Watford FC striker surprised a pupil who raised money for children’s charity by taking part in a PE lesson.
Watford captain Troy Deeney congratulated Year 4 student Millie Wragg while he paid a visit to Laurance Haines Primary and Nursery School, in Vicarage Road, Watford, last week.
Millie wanted to raise some money for a children’s charity so she asked her parents to buy two Paddington bears from Marks and Spencer.
She donated one bear to Watford General Hospital to be auctioned at their Christmas charity event and raised £200.
Marks & Spencer and Watford FC were so impressed by Millie’s fundraising that M&S decided to sponsor the baby unit at Watford General Hospital during March and Watford FC supplied prizes for Millie's raffle.
Millie then sold raffle tickets at her parents’ wedding anniversary party and raised another £285 which she has donated to Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Sebastian Gray, assistant head at the school said: “We are so proud of Millie in Year 4.
“Watford captain Troy Deeney paid a surprise visit to Laurance Haines to congratulate Millie on her fundraising and to take part in a PE lesson delivered by Watford's Community Sports and Education Trust as part of the Premier League's Primary Stars campaign.
“This was just one of many ways the school and Watford FC have collaborated with each other.”
