The comedic and heart-warming musical, Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, based on the Oscar-winning film, is on stage at The Alban Arena today and tomorrow.

Following on from the highly acclaimed production of West Side Story, the multi-award winning St Albans Musical Theatre Company brings this colourful show to the stage with Watford actor Mathew Collyer.

It is from the book by Stephan Elliot and Allan Scott and comes complete with a hit parade of dancefloor favourites including I Will Survive, Hot Stuff, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, True Colors, and I Love The Nightlife.

It tells the heart-warming and uplifting tale of three friends who hop aboard a battered old bus named Priscilla, and set off from Sydney on the adventure of a lifetime, to perform as drag artists at a casino in the heart of the Australian outback. They end up on a journey of self-discovery, finding friendship, acceptance, love and far more than they ever dreamed of.

Starring as Tick is Mathew, a fire fighter from Watford. Alongside him is Freddie Marks, whose professional credits include Bugsy Malone, Forty Years On and Oliver, joins the cast as Bernadette. Playing Adam is Daniel Quirke who was last seen on stage with SAMTC as Link Larkin in their sell-out run of Hairspray.

Julie Lilley, Fenella Lee and Charlotte Gregory join the cast as the three Divas along for the ride with a cast of over 30 local performers.
