The MP for Watford has paid tribute to the former mayor of Watford for “everything she achieved” over the last 16 years.
Dorothy Thornhill stepped down last week as Watford’s first elected mayor - and first female elected mayor in the UK.
She will be replaced by former deputy mayor and Liberal Democrat Oxhey Ward Councillor Peter Taylor.
Baroness Thornhill will now take a seat in the House of Lords.
Richard Harrington has since said: “I would like to pay tribute to Dorothy Thornhill.
“Working with her over the last eight years has been a pleasure and she should be proud of what she’s achieved for our town.
“I wish her all the best and look forward to working with Watford’s newly elected mayor.”
