A busy road which "floods every time it rains" is set to be fixed.

Clarendon Road in Watford has been earmarked for works following complaints about a broken drain.

Plans have also been made to resurface the road.

Lib Dem county councillor Stephen Giles-Medhurst and Watford borough councillor Aga Dychton say they have been demanding action from Hertfordshire County Council for almost a year.

Cllr Dychton said: "This is a busy pedestrian route to and from Watford Junction and the town centre and people cannot use a particular crossing when it rains. And those that walk past get covered in water from passing traffic.

"It's a disgrace that it has been left like this so long after we reported it and chased for action so many times."

Cllr Giles-Medhurst added: "This is just typical of the delays we get from the county council. This is a major route and totally unacceptable to have been left for so long."

A spokeswoman for Hertfordshire County Council said: “Officers have visited the site to look into concerns raised about flooding. A permanent repair has now been scheduled and this work is due to be carried out at the end of this month.”
