A community street party was held beneath brilliant blue skies to mark the Royal Wedding this weekend.
On May 20, people from Belmont Road in Watford, celebrated the union of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with a party in the street for their neighbours.
Almost 100 guests, both young and old, turned out for an afternoon of good conversation, food and drink, games, and a chance to take part in the “legendary” Belmont Road Virginia Reel dance.
This will mark Belmont Road’s fifth street party. Other notable celebrations include the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the anniversary of VE
Day, the Big Lunch and the wedding of William and Kate.
Organising committee member, Rachel Owen, said: “The parties have really helped us meet and become friends with our neighbours - some residents have been in this road for 50 years plus and we also have a number of new families with young children.
“The parties have also led to regular Belmont Road coffee mornings which, as well as providing more regular opportunities to meet up, raise money for a number of charities.
“We were so lucky with the weather too - everyone had a great day!”
