If Mr Peter Taylor is to be a success as Mayor of Watford, he must have better ideas than replacing the Metropolitan Line Extension with a light rail/ tram scheme.
This would be a classic case of non-joined up thinking producing a non-joined up public transport system.
If the powers that be, of whatever political colour, Khan’t or won’t, pay for a proper MLE, Mr Taylor would be better employed using his influence to encourage the introduction of an intensive bus service — at least four buses an hour — connecting Watford Metropolitan Station to the town centre. Such a bus service was in fact run when the station was first opened in the 1920s
