Ronald McGrath’s letter last week (Cassiobury's parking problem, May 25) suggested that visitors to Cassiobury Park should be “encouraged to make use of the extensive street parking” on the Cassiobury Estate side of the park, to reduce pressure on the Triangle side.

I hope he noticed that for the Whitsun Bank Holiday weekend just passed, several additional control measures were successfully put in place to reduce parking pressure on the Triangle, and these included handing maps to visitors with directions to all of the alternative parking places, including the Cassiobury estate.
Mr McGrath may not be aware that when the CPZ restrictions were introduced to Cassiobury several years ago, we were very conscious of the need to adopt a ‘light touch’ approach which would stop all day commuters clogging the roads, but would not impact too much on park visitors. Regular park visitors know that the CPZ only operates between 10.30am and 2.30pm on weekdays and between September 1 and June 30. This means that plenty of on street parking is available every weekend and every day during the peak summer months of July and August.
