A petition which could help commuters get cheaper fares has been relaunched.

New Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor and Callowlands councillor Ian Stotebsury want four stations to be re-zoned.

They are Watford Junction, Watford High Street, Carpenders Park, and Bushey.

Carpenders Park is currently in zone 7, Bushey and Watford High Street are in zone 8 and Watford Junction is in its own 'W' zone.

Cllr Stotesbury said: "We are relaunching our fairer fares petition. We want these stations to be rezoned to zone 6. Right now, we are getting a raw deal. We pay as much as £1,000 more as people who live in Epping (in Essex) who for a similar distance are in zone 6 and pay less.

"I want Watford to be moved into Zone 6, a change that will make our fares cheaper and put money in the pocket of local commuters.

"So if you agree the Watford residents should get a good deal, please sign the petition."

Transport links including the tube, Docklands Light Railway (DLR), London Overground and National Rail services in London are divided into zones. Most services operate in zones 1-6, with Tube, London Overground and National Rail also operating in zones 7-9.

It needs at least 5,000 signatures for it to be discussed at the London Assembly. It currently has more than 3,000.
