A Chinese restaurant where inspectors found a rat infestation has reopened again.

Imperial China in Elton Way near Bushey was forced to close by Hertsmere Borough Council officers on May 10 last month after the council successfully applied for a Hygiene Emergency Prohibition Order.

The owner has since taken the "remedial measures" required to clear the infestation to the satisfaction of the officers.

A spokesman for Hertsmere Borough Council said: “The Imperial China restaurant was closed on 10 May following the discovery of a rat infestation and environmental health officers from the council successfully applied to St Albans Magistrates Court for a Hygiene Emergency Prohibition Order requiring the premises to remain closed until the infestation had been cleared.

"The owner of the restaurant has since taken remedial measures to clear the infestation to the satisfaction of the council’s officers and the restaurant has reopened."
