Plans to improve Garston Park, including with new walkways, entrances, play areas and a new sculpture, will be on show at a family fun day to be held at the park this Saturday (June 16).

A barbecue, bouncy castles, cake stalls, finger puppets, face painting and live music will also be on offer at the event being staged by Watford Borough Council.

Meanwhile, members of the public will be able to discuss the plans with councillors and officers from the parks team. Plans also include tree planting, the creation of wildflower meadows, and additional bins and benches.

Pictures of proposed new play equipment will be on display and visitors will be invited to become part of the improvements programme by establishing a Friends of Garston Park group.

Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said: “We already have more Green Flag award-winning parks than any other area in Hertfordshire. As Mayor, I want to make sure we have even more. Please join us on Saturday and help us add Garston Park to Watford’s ever-growing list of Green Flag award-winning parks.”

Live music will be provided by Perfect Vintage who cover hits from the 1940s to the 70s.

Conservation volunteers will also be running their Green Gym programme through which visitors can keep fit while improving the environment.
