A community crime prevention event will take place next weekend to help people protect their valuable property.

On June 23, Hertfordshire police will host a crime prevention day in Abbotts Langley to offer people advice and useful methods to keep their property more secure.

Visitors to the weekend event will hear police speaking on a range of topics including how to make personal property less attractive to thieves and more difficult to sell.

They will also be given tamperproof number plate screws and engraving tools free of charge.

Police say theft of number plates is very common place and highly profitable to criminals. The screws are a useful deterrent.

Police Community Support Officer, Paul Cook, said: “Crime prevention events such as this always prove popular with residents as they are a chance to meet with local officers to discuss any issues or concerns they may have, while also getting some valuable tips on how to keep their property more secure. We look forward to seeing as many people as possible on the day.”

The event will take place at Abbots Langley police station between 11am and 4pm.
