Swimmers hold lakeside protest

The weather may have been ominous but that didn't stop a group of protesters stripping down to their bathing suits at Bury Lake, Rickmansworth, yesterday.

A group of campaigners waved banners as part of protest against the ban on swimming in the lake.

The members of the River and Lake Swimming Association say they should be able to swim in the lake and want a ban, implemented in the 1980s due to safety concerns, lifted.

Three Rivers District Council says it is unsafe to swim in the lake which is used for sailing, and which does contain blue green algae.

Tell us what you think. Would you like to swim in Bury Lake? Should the swimming ban be lifted. Fill out the form below and have your say.
