Croxley Revels

Big Bandstand – South Oxhey Community Choir

Come along to Cassiobury Park for a jam-packed summer season of free live shows. South Oxhey Community Choir have performed at the Watford Colosseum, Camden Roundhouse and Gravesham Festival. They have sung in front of a packed St Albans Abbey, recorded at Abbey Road studios, and even headlined Sox Fest ’09 to an audience in excess of 5,000 people. They also performed at the Royal Gala in aid of the Peace Hospice at the Watford Colosseum in front of HRH Princess Michael of Kent, and in March 2013 took part in the annual Brandenburg Music Festival for the 2nd year running. On Saturday, South Oxhey Community Choir will perform at the Big Bandstand, Cassiobury Park. Bring a picnic, sun cream and shades and enjoy the choir singing in the sunshine.

TFS Artists Exhibition

Model Railway Display

As part of a programme of celebrations of the 150th anniversary of our local rail service, there will be a free display of several model railway layouts. Created by the Bushey Model Railway Society, these layouts are very detailed. And for kids (of all ages) there will also be a railway layout featuring Thomas the Tank Engine.

Refugee Week Children’s Workshop

A free drop-in workshop for children. Watford Museum is partnering with People Not Borders and local artist Sheelagh Frew Crane to celebrate the 20th year of Refugee Week. Sheelagh's work will be installed both inside and outside the museum.

Abbots Langley Local Food Summer Market

Abbots Langley Transition Town is hosting its summer local food and produce market. Seasonal fruit and vegetables, cakes and bakes, eggs, locally roasted coffee, chocolate, jams and preserves, unique gifts and crafts. Primrose Heath Puppets will also be performing especially for the market their summer solstice show, The Fairies from the Wood, performing shows at 11am and 12pm.

Suffragette Weekend

Chiltern Open Air Museum is hosting a Suffragette weekend. Visitors will be able to learn about the Women’s Suffrage Movement and meet costumed re-enactors as they fight, march, sing and campaign for the cause. There will be demonstrations of the martial art of suffrajitsu, showing how a team of Edwardian ladies were able to protect the leaders of the Women’s Suffrage Movement from arrest. Members of the Watford Palace Theatre Community Choir and the Claremont Singers from Windsor will be adding to the fray, singing suffragette songs under the direction of Musical Director Stephen Merrony.

Bug Hunt

Come along to see what mini-beasts you can find and where they live. Go wild on a bug ‘safari’ through the park. Discover lots of mini beasts and have a close-up look at them in special bug collectors. With the help of the Park Ranger, learn some fun facts and find out more about their natural habitat. This is a free event, but booking is required.

St Albans Day Pilgrimage

Join the crowds in St Albans as the city comes together to celebrate Alban, Britain’s first saint. Enjoy a wonderful spectacle as giant carnival puppets tell the story of the remarkable man who gave the city its name. Roman chariots, centurions, lions, and roses all take the place in the dramatic procession from St Peter’s Church through the town centre and its historic streets to St Albans Cathedral.
