A zumba class keen to sponsor a good cause through exercise helped raise £400 for our cot appeal.

Women who go to the class in The Centre, South Oxhey, were inspired by a Watford Observer appeal to help support Katherine Ward.

The idea came from member Louvaine and all the other members, including instructors Oana, Bev and Nicola, got on board.

The Centre let them use the building for free, and each member donated £10 to take part in the session.

A raffle draw was also held, bringing the overall total raised to £400.

Oana said: "Nobody asked for any money, everyone was just there for the charity.

"Nobody had any objections, everyone thought it was a great charity to support and the turnout was great.

"It was really good fun."

Our cot appeal was launched alongside healthcare assistant Jackie Fitzsimons.

She needs to raise £18,000 by next June to help buy new cots, as the current ones are nearly 30 years old.
