Fancy dress, dog shows and sunny weather is only some of what crowds got to enjoy at an annual carnival on June 23.

The annual Kings Langley Carnival saw organisers find a new design for their brochure, last year it was based on Harry Potter.

Their new theme, Horrible Histories, the children’s book series based on the more unsavoury aspects of the past, inspired the new fancy dress and brochure design competition.

Carnival chairman Carol Chandler said: “This year everything seemed to fall into place.

“The weather was perfect and the people of Kings Langley came out in force to support this fantastic village event.

“We are grateful to everyone for such an amazing day - from the small army of volunteers who ensured everything went according to plan to our very generous sponsors.

“This meant we were able to provide a fabulous day and raise as much money as possible to be donated to local groups and organisations."

Young artist Jamie Farndon was the lucky winner to claim the award for the best design.

Carol Chandler says that each year the carnival raises on average £5,000, this total is divvied out, upon application, to scout groups, food banks or people in the area.

The carnival also saw a dog show, a petting zoo and live music from several school choirs and bands.

Ideas for next year’s event are already being formulated to suggest a new theme email: kingslangleycarnival@hotmail.com.
