It’s time we started funding our schools properly. Like many parents with young children I have visited a number of our local primary schools and I couldn’t be more impressed with the dedication and commitment shown by early years teachers and classroom assistants in Watford.
Yet we all hear the same story from teachers - “it’s never been as tough as this” - as schools face rising costs, increased demand on school places and budget cuts. There aren’t enough school places in Watford and it can’t be right that our children - who weren’t even born when the financial crisis started - suffer from this continued chronic under-investment.
Austerity has gone far enough. Labour’s record and commitment to investing in education stands in stark contrast to the disregard shown by the our Tory MP, the Tory-run county council and the Tory Government. Let’s invest where it matters most and fund our schools properly.
