Watford has been named as the second-worst place to go on a night out, according to a study.

The town, which is Hertfordshire’s most popular nightspot, came 49th out of 50 towns and cities across the UK.

My Voucher Codes has looked at a number of factors such as how cheap the drinks are, how cheap the taxi fares are, how safe the town centre is, and how cheap the hotels and restaurants are.

After all the data was compiled, which was sourced from the country’s 50 most popular clubbing hotspots, it didn’t make great reading for our town.

The average price of a pint in Watford town centre is £4.25, which is the joint second-highest alongside Brighton, while the average cost of a Gin & Tonic is £3.10.

Watford was one of just seven places where it costs more than £4 for a pint, based on the Wetherspoons app.

A one night stay in a hotel in Watford will set you back around £120 while a meal in Watford will take on average £15 out of your wallet.

Taxis also appear to be expensive in comparison with the rest of the UK with the initial fare beginning at £4. Compare that to Swansea where a taxi ride starts at £1.80.

Watford was given a Numbeo safety index score of 63.54. The data has been crowdsourced within the last 36 months. The town is about on par with most towns and cities. Cambridge is considered to be the safest with a score of 79.76 with Slough and Blackpool scoring just 32.

When all the figures were added together, Swansea in South Wales has been ranked as the best place for a night out, followed by Northampton, Derby, and Middlesbrough.

London was ranked the lowest at 50th which suggests this study might not be all that, with Watford just one place better at 49.
