Tens of thousands of protestors converged in Trafalgar Square in opposition to Donald Trump this evening.

With the American President busy visiting Windsor with Theresa May, anti-Trump campaigners of all persuasions set off on a march from Portland Place at 2pm.

By 4pm Trafalgar Square was packed with protestors of all ages and races.

While some picked-up signs handed out by the Socialist Workers Party, others came fully prepared.

One group had built a Donald Trump punching bag, which garnered a great cheer when a small girl threw in some body shots.

After the presenter of BBC satire show Nish Kumar delivered a self-deprecating speech, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn came on stage to the biggest cheer of the afternoon.

He said: “Whatever the decision the Queen decides to take about whether to invite him to tea or not and what advice the prime minister gives on that is between them, I don’t know what went on.

“But personally I don’t think we should have been rolling out the red carpet for Donald Trump.

“We should be having meetings with the US government, the administration, as we always should, as we should with every other government in the world.

“We have to relate to other governments but you’ve got to be clear what you’re doing. Are we rolling out the red carpet uncritically or saying, hang on, there are issues where we fundamentally disagree?”

While the language on some signs was less than cordial, the mood remained good natured throughout.

Even when rap group NWA’s signature hit began to blare out of a portable speaker – much to the dancing crowd’s delight – a nearby police officer failed to stifle a laugh.

One young protestor explained why she had travelled from Kent to be there.

Millicent Hams, 18, said: “It’s one thing paying for him to come and visit. It’s anther paying for security to go with him for his trip to play golf in Scotland.

“Why? Why do we have to pay for him?

“I’m here to say no to Trump and to oppose his visit.”
