The mayor will host a series of street stalls throughout the summer to learn about the issues affecting people’s lives.

Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, has launched a “listening campaign” offering people a chance to meet him face-to-face to discuss matters important to them in an attempt to make Watford “an even better place to live”.

In addition to the pop-up “surgeries” people can also take part in a Listening to Watford online survey to let the mayor know about the issues they care about.

Mr Taylor held his first meeting along with other councillors at the Gossamers shops in the Meriden estate and is planning a second event at the Queen’s Road Broadway Shops with Central ward representatives on July 28.

Mr Taylor said: “It was great to get the views of residents in Meriden. I’m really keen to be a mayor for everyone - wherever you live, whatever your background and however you voted.

“But I can’t do that without getting the views of residents on what they like about our town and how we can make it an even better place to live and work.

“Over the summer, I’ll be going across Watford listening to local people. Please do come along if you want to chat and get your views heard.

“Alternatively, you can fill out my Listening to Watford survey online. It is so important that I hear about what the things that matter to residents.”
