A car flipped onto its roof following a crash on Watford ring road last night.

Police, two fire engines, and an ambulance were called to Exchange Road after the crash which is believed to have involved three vehicles and happened at around 9.40pm.

The road was shut while emergency crews dealt with the incident and a number of people could be seen gathered nearby at the corner of Lower High Street.

Pictures taken looking down towards the incident showed one car on its roof, a second car spun facing the wrong direction, and a third car which appears to have left the road before coming to a stop in a bush. It is believed they were the three cars involved.

Watford Observer:

This picture was taken before the emergency services arrived. On the left is a blue car in a bush while another car can be seen flipped.

Other cars also stopped at the scene.

Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue confirmed it left one casualty in the care of the East of England Ambulance Service and they were taken to Watford General Hospital.

The ambulance spotted at the scene actually came across the crash and was able to provide first aid immediately. Details of any injuries are unknown at this stage, however they are not believed to be serious.

There were no reports of anyone trapped.

The road reopened just before midnight.

A police spokeswoman said: "It was reported that three cars were in a collision. Officers attended the scene and closed the road to allow emergency services to deal with the incident."
