A boys' school is delighted to see its students get outstanding A-level results.

Year 13s at Haberdashers Askes Boys School, in Aldenham, were on tenterhooks as they awaited their grades this week.

A total of 42 per cent of all grades awarded were A*.

Meanwhile, 25% gained three or more A* grades and 56% gained straight A* and A grades.

Almost 20 per cent of the cohort have been offered Oxbridge places, with many other opting for other Russell Group universities.

Keen sportsman Michael Miller, captain of rugby as well as school vice-captain, achieved A*A*A and will read Natural Sciences at Cambridge.

Ricky Thake, captain of football, was awarded A*A*A* and will read Theology at Nottingham.

Meanwhile, Naresh Rasakulasuriar, captain of cricket, achieved A*A*A*A* and will study engineering at Cambridge.

Dillon Kurani, captain of hockey, was awarded A*A*A*A and will go on to study economics at LSE.

Dillon said: “I am really happy with my results and am very excited for the future. The support from Habs was incredible. I must take this opportunity to thank my family, especially my brother Amit, for pushing me. I will look forward to studying Economics at LSE.”

Max Goldstone, school captain, achieved straight A*s to read medicine at Bristol.

Max said: “I am very pleased with my results and proud of all of the achievements from across our year group. Thanks must go to my teachers at Habs for going above and beyond.”

Jonathan Steltzer, vice captain, was awarded A*A*A and will read theology at Cambridge.

He said: “I am very pleased with my grades – it’s down to the expert help from those at Habs. My parents have also played a big part in these results and I am thankful to them for giving me the best possible opportunity.”

Peter Hamilton, headmaster, said: “It has been a real privilege to know the Class of 2018 as they have grown into fine young men over the last decade.

"Their superb results are the mark of hard work, dedication and excellent teaching."
