A newly appointed headteacher at a high school has thanked his predecessor for his service and leadership as A-level students celebrated their results.
Steven Hogan praised Andrew Beaumont, former headteacher at Woodbridge High School, who has led the school for the past 15 years.
The school in St Barnabas Road, Woodford Green this year saw an increase in the percentage of students gaining A* and A grades in their A-levels.
Among them were Leona May who received three A* grades in English literature, French and psychology and is off to the University of Kent to study psychology.
Letitia Leong, who also has ambitions to study psychology, achieved A* grades in economics and psychology and A grades in Russian and biology.
Other top achievers include Amy Hume who got A* grades in psychology and biology and an A in history, Dexter Morris, who came away with two As in psychology and English languages, and Daisy Malbon who gained As in economics and psychology.
Mr Holborn also praised the students who achieved excellent results in their level three applied courses, including Rayhan Chowdhury who received a triple distinction* in BTEC Business Extended Diploma.
And while Rayhan is off to the University of Bristol to study accounting and finance, his fellow student Klaudija Klimviciute will be studying business and marketing at the University of Hertforshire after also gaining a triple distinction* in BTEC Business Extended Diploma.
Mr Hogan said: “It is with much pride that I take over from Andrew Beaumont as headteacher at Woodbridge, having been deputy headteacher since 2013.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Andrew for his service to the school over the last 15 years. We wish him well in his retirement.
“Thanks to Andrew’s leadership, the school has a strong history of excellent exam results at GCSE and A Level and of service to the community of Woodford Green.
“This year’s A-level results have been achieved through the hard work of our students and teachers and our congratulations go to all of them.
“We wish them very well indeed as they embark on the next stage of their lives.”
