A money-saving pilot scheme to switch off streetlights in villages could soon get the go-ahead.
But local people will be asked first if their area should be included in the six-month trial - which will involve either switching off lights part-time or getting rid of them completely.
Six villages are being pin-pointed for the trial which, if successful, could save Hertfordshire County Council up to £23,000 per village a year.
