RICHARD HAUGHTON has set his sights on a try-laden season for Saracens this season having already equalled his record from the last campaign.

The wing followed up his try at Leeds with a superb 70-metre dash to help Sarries overcome Worcester 21-16 at Sixways on Sunday. Rodd Penney got Sarries' other try while returning fly-half Glen Jackson kicked three penalties and a conversion.

Haughton, who turns 27 next month, managed just two tries last season after a series of niggling injuries curtailed his involvement. However, the Peckham-born flyer is hoping his early season form in the back-line has done enough to cement him a regular place in the starting XV, especially with the likes of Kameli Ratuvou and Francisco Leonelli set to return for this weekend's clash with Leicester Tigers after returning from World Cup duty and injury respectively.

"I'm very happy with my try as the game was quite close at that point," said Haughton. "I've looked back at the match video of it. They had a couple of phases of play, we kicked it back to them and then they kicked it back to us. I caught the ball saw the gap and just ran as fast as I could.

"My try at Leeds was the first I have scored in a while, but that's the idea - to score as many tries as I can."

Haughton says it was vital the Men in Black got the new season off to a good start, as it not only gives the current squad a boost but those returning from World Cup duty.

"Worcester are a good side and they beat us twice last year, so we were a bit apprehensive going into the game," he added. "We were missing players to the World Cup but we will now have Kameli and Moses (Rauluni, scrum-half) back after Fiji went out at the weekend.

"It's all about getting some good results in the bag and we now hope to make Vicarage Road a fortress again this season. You can't expect to win every game in a season but it's important you win your home games and pick up as many points as you can on the road."

And Haughton, who started at full-back for the first time since December last year at Sixways, is confident defending Premiership champions Leicester are there for the taking.

"I'm really enjoying being back in the squad. Everything is going well but we've got a big test against Leicester Tigers on Sunday. I expect it to be a close game but if we go out there and produce the form we have been doing, then we can beat anyone."
