Busy streets in Watford are among those set to be temporarily closed for roadworks.

A notice from Hertfordshire County Council in this week’s edition of the Watford Observer details the extent of the closures along with other roads in surrounding areas.

All temporary closure orders are valid for up to 18 months but the roads will only be shut at times indicated by signs at or near the relevant locations.

The council is intending to make an order to close A4178 (Wiggenhall Road / Deacons Hill) from its junction with Thomas Sawyer Way south-westwards and south-eastwards for a distance of 489m.

This order is due to come into force on February 28.

On the same day, another order is scheduled to take effect to prohibit vehicles from using Bushey Mill Lane, Watford, from a point 22m north-west of its junction with Southfield Avenue north-westwards for a distance of 65m.

A third order due to take effect on February 28 will, if made, temporarily close High Street from its junction with King Street north-westwards to its junction with Market Street, a distance of 245m.

An order is due to come into force on February 25 that would temporarily close the following lengths of road in Watford:

  • Field Road from its junction with King Edward Road south-westwards to its junction with Lower Paddock Road, a distance of 117m.
  • King Edward Road from its junction with A411 Chalk Hill south-eastwards to its junction with Cross Road, a distance of 259m.
  • King George Avenue from its westernmost junction with Whippendell Road northwards, north-eastwards, south-eastwards and south-westwards for its entire length.
  • Sydney Road from its junction with Whippendell Road south-westwards and south-eastwards to its junction with Hagden Lane, a distance of 455m.

The council is intending to make an order to temporarily shut Quickmoor Lane, Sarratt, from its junction with Bucks Hill south-westwards and westwards for a distance of 120m.

This order is due to take effect on March 1, while two days later another order is set to prohibit vehicles from using Sarratt Lane, Loudwater, from a point in line with the western boundary of ‘Oakwood’ south-eastwards for 85m.

An order, if made, will come into force on March 4 authorising the closure of these two lengths of road in Chorleywood:

  • Dog Kennel Lane from its junction with Berry Lane north-westwards to its junction with South Cottage Drive, a distance of 105m.
  • Berry Lane from its junction with The Beeches north-westwards and south-westwards for a distance of 103m.
