A flock of sheep were filmed giving police the runaround in Garston this morning.

Neighbours and joggers were left bemused when dozens of the animals were seen running through an estate with at least four officers in close pursuit.

A resident in Osprey Close was met with a bizarre view from their window at around 8.20am when the flock were pictured in a car park, with some appearing to make the most of the greenery on offer.

Officers must have thought the writing was on the wool when the sheep reportedly decided to lie down but the police put their skills to good ewes, showing great partnersheep to herd the flock back down Osprey Close.

They were later filmed by Nick Thomas, who had been out on a run of his own, running in Falcon Way towards a tunnel that goes under the M1 with the officers following closely behind.

It's thought the sheep escaped from the nearby Munden Estate.

Social media reports indicate the sheep were safely returned home, with officers choosing not to put the runaways behind baas for their exploits.

So all's wool that ends wool.
