A lavish dinner in a listed building brought countless councillors, mayors and the High Sheriff of Hertfordshire together yesterday, raising almost £1,500 for charity.
The dinner, raffle and auction, held at the Grade I listed Moor Park mansion, was organised by Chairman of Three Rivers District Council, Amrit Mediratta.
It was held to thank council staff and charity workers for their work, with money raised going to the Chairman's two chosen charities, The Parkinson's Disease Society and Different Strokes, a charity helping young stroke survivors.
Croxley Councillor Roger Seaborne's £500 auction bid for a gold disc of an album by singer Cher helped bring the total to £1,465. The raffle raised around £800. The disc was donated by John Nickolay, Deputy Mayor of Harrow.
The event followed an Indian Cultural Evening organised by Chairman Mediratta on February 9 at which around £8,000 was raised for charity.
