The flag at a Watford sports club was flown at half mast this week as a squash club paid tribute to a "kind, generous and funny man" who died in an accident on Saturday.

Keen squash player, Peter Biggerstaff, 55, from Bushey, was helping his twin brother Tony renovate his bungalow in Hillingdon when the roof collapsed, killing him instantly.

The staff and members of West Herts Squash Club, Park Avenue Watford, cancelled all club matches because of the event, showing their high regard for a "hugely popular" and loved man.

A statement from the club said: "He was a player every captain wanted in their team. He was reliable, competitive and knew how to win matches in the right way.

"He was always fair and sporting, supportive of team mates and great fun in the bar afterwards. Above all, he was a kind, generous and funny friend and we will all miss him dreadfully.

"He was a credit to himself, his family, this sports club and all his friends here."

The funeral will be held at Breakspear Crematorium, Breakspear Road, Ruislip, Middlesex HA4 7 SJ on Friday 28th March at 2.15pm and afterwards at West Herts Sports Club, 8 Park Avenue, Watford, Herts WD18 7HP and is open to everyone.
