Four schools will close next Thursday when teachers go on strike for the first time in more than 20 years.
Hertfordshire County Council confirmed today (Thursday) that St Catherine of Siena Catholic Primary School, in Horseshoe Lane, Watford, will close alongside Garston Manor Primary School, Colnbrook School in South Oxhey, and Bushey Meads School.
A school trip for Year 4 pupils at St Catherine will still go ahead, however.
In addition, Warren Dell Primary School in South Oxhey, Beechfield School in Watford, and Divine Saviour School in Abbots Langley will partially close.
Members of the National Union of Teachers (NUT), Britain's largest teachers' union, will leave their classrooms in a row over pay. They have been offered a rise of 2.54 per cent, but this was rejected as the Union seeks an increase of around four per cent.
The last teachers' strike ended in 1987.
