Government inspectors have placed Bushey Hall School under special measures, describing it as "failing to give its pupils an acceptable standard of education".

An Ofsted report on the school, which has around 960 students, was officially published today and labelled many areas "inadequate".

The school appointed a new headteacher, Graham Yapp, last year, who the report praised for having a "clear vision" of what needs to be improved. It added, however, that progress had not been adequate and that the school was "amongst the weakest performing secondary schools nationally".
