Nineteen restaurants, take-aways, and cafés in Bushey have poor hygiene conditions according to a newly published council report.
The Scores on the Doors document, the result of a year of inspections by health and safety officers from Hertsmere Borough Council, rates businesses where food is made or sold according to a five star system.
Of the 49 places inspected in Bushey, 19 were given no stars, identifying them as having "poor hygiene conditions and some major non-complience with food legislation."
None of the village's businesses were given the highest rating and only 11 were rated higher than satisfactory.
The highest award in the area went to Sidekicks, the café in the Bushey Grove Leisure Centre, Aldenham Road, which was named "very good" in the report.
Inspected businesses will be given certificates giving their rating which they can display for customers.
Businesses given no stars in the report are not issued with a certificate.
In Bushey, these "poor hygiene" businesses were: Blue Check, Bushey Spice, Chikayan, Deli Café Heath, Eat Well Takeaway, Elsums, India Garden, Khana Exclusive Indian Takeaway, Micahels Fish Bar, Ocean City, Old Orleans, Picnics, Relish Spice, Rice Bowl Chinese Takeaway, Sonargaon Restaurant, Spar, The Catch Toby Carvery and The Early Bird.
