Recently I co-hosted the annual Watford Jobs Fair, which took place at the Watford Job Centre Plus at Exchange House once again.
The Jobs Fair is a great opportunity for individuals who are receiving Universal Credit to be able to visit more than 30 employers all under one roof. It is not just an opportunity to secure employment, but to receive advice on how to upskill, improve their CV and practice interview techniques.
Watford is a thriving town. Last week I visited the Beech House, a new bar/restaurant, which has very recently opened on the High St and new cocktail bar Barrio will open in the coming days. Honest Burgers, Grounded Kitchen, and HMV have also recently opened their doors. Having recently been appointed the Minister for Enterprise and Markets this is something I wholeheartedly support. It is fantastic that businesses want to come to Watford, and I very much welcome the jobs and investment that come with it.
Now is a great time for those seeking employment in Watford - there seems to be opportunity in almost every sector.
I would like to put on record my thanks to the Job Centre staff for helping, not just today but all year round. UK unemployment has fallen to lowest level since 1974, and this is thanks to DWP staff across the country. Through our Plan for Jobs, the whole of the UK Government is focused on protecting, supporting, and creating jobs across the country.
