The cold snap has led to some bin lids becoming frozen which has prevented rubbish from being collected.
Watford Borough Council has said that if bin collectors are unable to open the lids, then removal of the rubbish will not take place until the next scheduled collection date.
On January 20, the council tweeted: “Due to recent cold weather, we have been receiving calls regarding collection crews unable to empty bins due to the lids being frozen.”

It comes as there has been another cold snap across England with frost and overnight freezing fog taking hold in many locations.
- Fox and Hounds among pubs under 'enormous pressures'
- Councillors cover 20 miles to measure and report 35 potholes
The council has offered advice on reducing the risk of a bin lid becoming frozen.
It suggests storing bins in a warmer spot, such as a shed, garage or beside your house, as well as placing a sheet of paper or cardboard between the lid and the opening.
And to prevent the contents of green bins becoming frozen, the council has suggested not compressing a lot of garden waste into the bin.
