Over the last few weeks, Watford residents have seen a mixed bag of weather, with much of the region being hit by continuous rain and overclouded dark skies, seeing summer feel much more like autumn.

Now officially in August, many are hoping that the weather will take a turn and sunny clear skies and hot days will finally give us some much-wanted summer conditions.

The weather is always a well-discussed topic, especially with the current weather conditions, seeing many ask one big question, when will the rain end?

Weather forecasters have now had their say, as the Met Office and BBC Weather share their predictions on what upcoming forecasters will look like.

How long will the rain last in Watford?

Anyone hoping to put away their raincoat may want to keep it nearby as the Met Office has shared their long-range forecast for the UK.

In the forecast, the Met Office shares: "Sunshine and showers are likely for many at the start of this period" adding "showery conditions are likely, along with the risk of longer spells of rain and stronger winds at times too".

Although the start of August looks wet, there are predictions the rain will ease off, as they share: "Some shorter-lived periods of drier, more settled weather are also likely, particularly later in the month.

"These may bring some warmer days, however, any prolonged dry and hot spells appear to be unlikely."

In terms of a short-range forecast for Watford, the Met Office did share that rain is here to stay for a bit longer, sharing: "Heavier and more frequent showers developing Friday, otherwise similar to Thursday. Unsettled and windy with heavy rain and showers Saturday."

Watford Observer: Summer has been very wet so far, see if the rain is going away.

Elsewhere, fellow weather forecaster BBC Weather has also shared their forecast for August in Watford.

It said: "Thursday will see rather cloudy conditions with showers developing, sharp in places but easing later in the day. Similar on Friday, with further showers and sunny spells too in the afternoon.

"Clouding over in the evening. Saturday will see spells of heavy, persistent rain and showers, with the odd rumble of thunder. A windy day."
