Prayers are to be offered for the victims of the humanitarian disasters in Morocco and Libya at an informal service in Watford on Sunday afternoon.

The Watford Interfaith Association (WIFA) is holding a gathering at the Peace Garden in Cassiobury Park at 3.30pm tomorrow. All are welcome to attend.

Thousands of people have lost their lives following the earthquake in Morocco and floods in Libya and chair of the interfaith association Harjit Singh said: "In these sad and tragic times it is crucial that we come together as a community to support one another.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the affected individuals and communities in Morocco and Libya. We stand united in our commitment to fostering understanding and compassion among all faiths and beliefs.

“The Watford Interfaith Association remains dedicated to promoting harmony and unity diverse among diverse faith communities. We encourage individuals and organisations to join us in extending a helping hand to those in need during these challenging times.”

It is suggested those who are unable to come to the gathering could send out prayers and good wishes from wherever they are at that time, thus joining in the wave of love and support heading to Morocco and Libya.

WIFA may also hold one of their regular prayer / discussion meetings online on Tuesday, September 26 in which prayers and good wishes may be expressed for those people and the infrastructure of their damaged countries.

This will be notified by email, on the Watford Interfaith Association Facebook page and the organisation’s web site http://www.wifa.org.uk in due course.

Revd Tony Rindl will be holding special prayers at St Mary's Church on Sunday also.
