I am proud of the progress we have made together in Watford. My most significant achievement was securing full funding for the redevelopment of Watford General Hospital thanks to the support of residents and West Herts Hospital Trust leadership team.

I was delighted my Tips Bill became law in 2023 and will come into force later next year. This was my own Private Members Bill which ensures businesses cannot retain any of the tips or gratuities given to staff.

I worked with Zach Eagling, a young lad with epilepsy and cerebral palsy and the Epilepsy Society to ensure the successful passage of Zach's Law within the Online Safety Bill.

My initiative to train 1000 people in mental health first aid awareness has been exceeded thanks to the support of the Watford Chamber of Commerce and Camelot.

Putting politics aside to partner with the council, I was pleased to announce the successful bid for the £16 million Levelling Up Fund for Watford which will transform the Town Hall and Colosseum. There is so much more too, through to my earlier ministerial support for a range of workers' rights coming into fruition including additional rights for carers and for maternity leave. I supported the ban on shark finning and was pleased to see the completion of the Online Safety Bill.

I have enjoyed working with my team on thousands of pieces of case work to help residents, surgery meetings, events and visits along with tours of Parliament. If you missed out on all of these activities don’t forget to sign up for my newsletter - www.deanrussell.co.uk.

As we gather with loved ones to celebrate Christmas, I want to extend my warmest wishes for a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2024.
