It is approaching 40 years since this picture of a Watford street was taken but the view remains largely unaltered.

The Watford Observer is delighted to share pictures from the archive at Watford Museum and this week we look back at this view of Local Board Road.

The museum’s volunteer archivist Christine Orchard said: “There isn't a date on this photo from our Bob Nunn collection, but the advertising hoarding shows a car with a registration number beginning with 'C', so this must mean it was taken in 1985 or 1986.

“Since this photo was taken very little of significance has changed.

“Naturally, there have been many new adverts and no doubt there have been building renovations. The street lights have been updated, a telegraph pole installed and beyond the end of Local Board Road there is a new industrial building.”
