Watford drivers have been warned of M25 delays as overnight closures near the town are set to continue.

The motorway has been shut between 10pm and 6am at junctions 20 to 21 since Monday, May 6, with works set to continue during those times until Saturday morning.

Resurfacing works are planned on the M25 main carriageway and slip roads, with delays of up to 30 minutes expected and diversions in place via local authority roads.

Second "carmageddon" M25 weekend closure

The second of the five planned M25 weekend closures is also due to take place in Surrey this weekend following a five days of disruption near Watford.

Major disruption is expected and drivers have been warned to only travel if necessary after the first full weekend closure was labelled "carmageddon" by a RAC spokesperson.

The motorway is set to completely shut between junctions 9 and 10 from 9pm on Friday, May 10, until 6am on Monday to install a new bridge.

Clarendon Road

This weekend will also see the last closure of Clarendon Road as it shuts to vehicles to enable a crane to be dismantled in the town centre.

A diversion will be in operation as the road shuts to allow a mobile crane operation to dismantle the last sections of the tower crane outside the construction site of the 25-storey tower.
