A minor car accident landed George King with double trouble after police turned up at the scene.
Asked to take his insurance details along to a police station it was then discovered that Oxhey man King had two driving licences each with six penalty points recorded.
St Albans crown court heard that King's insurance company were now of the opinion that had they known about the 12 points they would never have issued him with the policy.
King, 43, of Penn House, Oxhey Drive, South Oxhey pleaded guilty to one charge of withholding material information from the company to obtain a certificate of insurance.
The court was told the material information were previous motoring convictions which had landed King with the points.
Isabel Delamere prosecuting said it was on May 31 last year at around 3.30pm when King's old BM car was involved in a damage only accident in Exchange Road, Watford.
When police arrived on the scene he was told to produce his insurance at a police station and duly turned up with it a week later.
However, by then said Miss Delamere, police investigations had discovered King was in possession of two driving licences each containing six points.
Judge John Plumstead QC sentenced King to three months jail suspended for two years.
He was banned from driving for 12 months and he was also made the subject of a weekend night time curfew to run for the next six weeks.
