Councillor's drink drive guilt

Hugh O'Hanlon
Watford councillor Hugh O'Hanlon was convicted of drink driving at Watford Magistrates Court today.
O'Hanlon, 55, of Radlett Road, Watford, was stopped by police outside his home address on June 19.
O'Hanlon gave a breath test and was found to be just under three times the legal drink drive limit.
At Watford Magistrates, he pleaded guilty to drink driving and driving without insurance.
Chairman of the bench Robin McCarthy imposed an interim disqualification while reports were compiled for sentencing on August 5.
O'Hanlon represents Tudor Ward for Watford Borough Council and was re-elected in May this year.

On top of this Dorothy Thornhill has final come clean - the Moonies did fund her trip to Israel last year. Pressure from local residents has forced her to make a retrospective declaration of this £1500 gift.
Three questions:
Why have our elected representatives accepted freebies from a quasi-religious cult in the form of all-expenses paid trips to Korea and Israel?
What political advantage do the Moonies expect from these gift.
What else is the Mayor hiding?

I would have thought this was eminently obvious. These religious cults, having been exposed for what they are in their real and original names, are now becoming far more devious and covert. They are increasingly establishing "fronts" under fanciful names - in this particular case of the Moonies involving the emotive word PEACE - and ingratiating themselves with government and civic leaders, trying to worm their way into positions of influence and power and to undermine democracy and the citizens' freedom of choice. Unfortunately, many ordinary people seem to be unaware of what is going on around them and cannot see these cults for the sinister threat that they are.
I think you will find that Dorothy has been forced into the open, and to post her retrospective admission of the sponsors of her Israel trip - as a result of enquiries by the Watford Area Humanists.

On wonders that of this had been a Tory or Labour councillor, are their any left on Watford Borough, we don't here about them, if they would be saying the same. I understand from a friend in Hatfield a Tory cllr their in January was found to have child **** on his PC and was just fined!
Let see what the courts do.

This has been on-going since last July with several concerned residents making applications under the freedom of information act. I believe that Cllr Mortimer (the Tory one) was the first to raise the issue in July last year. I also understand that when question by the press on this issue a couple of weeks ago Mrs Mugabe allegedly stuck to her guns and said that she funded it herself - I suppose someone must of asked her for a copy of the receipt.
As regards Bernard's comments re hushing things up I understand that just before the last local election a Lib Dem Cllr was arrested for common assault - hushed that one up didn't they - everyone knows who it was but it never made the press - I wonder why.

Why do resort to insulting some one by calling them names- have you nothing better to say?. Why do you not use your real name - what are you hiding. I find your posting calling our directly elected Mayor (she got more than 50% of the vote I recall) the name of a internationally condemed dictaor who has arranged the murder of his own countrymen very insulting and I am disappointed that the Observer allows such insults on its web site!
Equally if Igloo has proof of what he says about the said councillor and the Police are preparied to confirm this as ture and its not just another anti Lib Dem lie smer that Igloo seems to go in for then it should be public. I seem to recall the Observer qouting the police as one of mistaken idenity. Put up or shut up.

Where have you been all this time? Fact - the Mayor is commonly called Mrs Mugabe in the Town Hall because most of the staff regard her as a dictator. SOmething she pointed out about the post in the Watford Observer on April 28th 2002. As regards the assault by a Lib Dem councillor, the Lib Dems all know about it, the man was arrested, the police know all about it, what more do you want? As you seem to be an ardent Lib Dem supporter why no ask them? BTW talking of real names, how are the turkeys these days?

However as one of their proclaimed creeds is that you should 'Live life on the basis of behaving towards others as you would like them to behave towards you' I'm not so sure. Maybe he's a self-hating masochist too?

Latest news is that dear old Dotty is being hauled up in front of the standards committee - as well as "mooning" off to Israel it seems she used her official mayoral Council headed paper to provide a local company with an endorsement for work carried out on her private house, which they in turn are using it as promotional material in their advertising. There's a naughty girl - it's OK though - she knows people who can walk on water - they'll get her out of that fix - it's called mis-use of a position of trust I believe.
I promise to keep telling the truth about the Watford Lib Dems - I've got a lot more ammunition still to come - keep taking the tablets in the meantime they will work for you Molly ....... eventually!
