Customers at four pubs have made the Guinness Book of Records for taking part in a synchronised wine tasting event.

Regulars at The Moon Under Water and the Colombia Press, both in Watford High Street, together with The Pennsylvanian in Rickmansworth High Street and The William Jolle in Joel Street, Northwood Hills tasted a variety of wines with the aim of beating the existing record of 5,100 wine tasters, set in Spain in 2006.

The event was staged simultaneously at 680 other Wetherspoon pubs across the UK on May 21.

Guinness World Records have officially confirmed, this week, that the 17,540 people who took part in the UK have created a new official world record.
