Police are appealing for witnesses and information after two attempted burglaries at the canal centre in Church Street, Rickmansworth.

They both happened at around 11.10pm on Wednesday, July 16.

Police said the offender approached the premises with an unknown object and used it to break two external windows to two separate buildings in an attempt to gain entry.

However, he was disturbed by a member of the public and ran off in the direction of the Church Street roundabout, they added.

He is described as a white man of stocky build and aged 19 to 26, with short fair hair and was wearing a dark-coloured hooded top and trousers with white trainers.

He is described as scruffy, about 5ft 10ins and spoke with an Irish accent.

PC Mo Huzair said: “This incident occurred at the time customers would have been leaving The White Bear pub only metres away, so it is likely there would have been witnesses.

“I would strongly urge those people to get in touch.”

Anyone with any information should telephone PC Huzair on 0845 33 00 222 or telephone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
