The sentencing of disgraced politician Ian Oakley has been postponed for four weeks after a psychiatric report was not finished in time.
The former Conservative parlimentary candidate, who has admitted masterminding a three year hate campaign against his political rivals in the town, appeared at St Albans Crown Court this afternoon.
However, in front of a packed court room, magistrates said the 31-year-old will now be sentenced on Monday, October 13.
Six weeks ago Oakley pleaded guilty to five charges of criminal damage and two counts of harassment. He also asked for 68 other offences to be taken into account.

Not surprising then, that this malevolent culture is mirrored within a Hillingdon psychiatric and psychology establishment that is corrupting and corrosive, entrenched, self-serving and panders to power.
If Mr Oakley’s apologists have successfully bought him some time, it’s because these ‘ladies’ – and I use the term loosely, are seeking to advance or consolidate their positions, or are pursuing their personal and political agendas. I can assure you that Mr Oakley couldn’t be in more warm, friendly, sympathetic and experienced hands!
It is well known that, in general, Hillingdon mental health service-users are ill-served. That’s because most mental health service-users are ‘poor’ and ‘a pain’ and far too boring for these Wisteria Avenue ‘wimmin’ to bother with.
In their eyes, Mr Oakley is a catch and they will fall over themselves to hitch a ride. Good luck girls but, no matter what excuses or rationales you come up with, with so many counts and so much evidence against him your man’s probably going down for a stretch!
